WORD Camps are the best part of school holidays! We have a variety of different camps during the holidays. Each camp we will ride, learn and giggle...heaps! Camps are open to kids of all MTB skill abilities. We split into groups, so we can ride with mates of similar radness.
April Holiday Camps 2025
Bookings for April Wānaka and Queenstown Holiday Camps open on Tuesday 4th of March at 8pm
Intro to Gnar
Thursday 17th of April - 9.45am to 3.30pm at Bike Glendhu!
In this 8-11yr old Co-ed session we will start to look at how best to tackle tech, rocks, roots and exposure as an Intro Gnar! Its Bike Glendhu so naturally we ride some flowy jump lines too and make the most of the skills area! Cost includes one van shuttle in the morning to get us up to Jacks Spot with plenty of energy to ride up to the crossing once or twice. Riders need to be Intermediate or Strong Intermediate+ ablitiy, experienced on grade 3 and wanting to progress on Grades 4 and 5. All participants need to have some from of WORD coaching already, recent camp or Term Programme. Not sure if this is for you, just ask Rob on 0275345727.

Cost:
$125 - If you have a Bike Glendhu season pass
$135 - If you don't have a season pass (this will cover you for the day you are with WORD at Bike Glendhu)
Includes:
– Experienced and super rad WORD mountain bike instructor (1:8 ratio)
– WORD t-shirt (Gold and Purple 2025 edition!)
– WORD sticker
– One BG van shuttle each day (Valued at $10).
A typical day at WORD Camp:
9.45am - Drop off
- Meet Rob your instructor!
- Meet the rest of the group, play some games and do a safety check.
- Head on up in the van to Jacks Spot and out for a ride, learn some new skills and find some interesting features to session.
- Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea all out on the trails! (BYO lunch and snacks in small backpacks).
- Afternoon adventure ride practicing new skills!

Queenstown Girls Camp-out!
14-15 April 2025
We’re heading to Queenstown for some fun in the sun. We’ll be camping, riding, laughing and exploring the best trails around!
Prerequisites for this overnight trip:
-Intermediate skill/fitness
-Aged 10 to 12 years old
-Must have been to a WORD after school programme or day camp before
Cost: $360 for the 2 day camp ($280 if you have a Skyline season pass)
Cost includes:
- All transport (to/from Wanaka or Queenstown)
- 1 night camping at 12 mile delta
- All food and snacks
- 1 day pass at Skyline
- 2 amazing WORD Instructors (Max 1:6 ratio)

Camp timeline
Monday
9am- Meet/Pick up in Wanaka (Location TBC)
10.15am- Pick up at Queenstown Event Centre (Queenstown)
10.30am- Group grocery shopping
12pm- Arrive at 7 mile!
12-3pm- Ride bikes, snacks, lunch
3pm- Head to 12 mile delta campground
3.15pm- Set up camp, optional ride
6pm- Group dinner
7-8pm- Team games
Tuesday
8am-Wake up and pack up
10am- Arrive at Skyline for a day on the Gondola!
3pm- Depart Skyline (This is the drop off location for Queenstown families)
4.30pm- Arrive back in Wanaka (Drop off location TBC)
Pre Trip Meeting
A couple weeks before the trip, we’ll meet up to answer all your questions. Kids and their whanau are invited to join us to get to know each other and talk all about what to bring and how to pack.
Tour de Gnar
Monday 14th of April - 9.45am to 3.30pm at Bike Glendhu!
In our 10-14yr old Co-ed ‘Tour de Gnar’ session we will focus on tackling tech, rocks, roots and exposure in this day of epic adventure! Its Bike Glendhu so naturally we ride some flowy jump lines too and make the most of the skills area! Cost includes one van shuttle to get us up to Jacks Spot with plenty of energy to tackle the gnarly-ness. Riders need to be Strong Intermediate or Advanced riders, experienced on grade 4+ and had some from of coaching already (This is a higher level and faster riding speed than the ‘Intro to Gnar’ camp).
