WORD Camps are the best part of school holidays! We have a variety of different camps during the holidays. Each camp we will ride, learn and giggle...heaps! Camps are open to kids of all MTB skill abilities. We split into groups, so we can ride with mates of similar radness.

Intro to Gnar
Thursday 17th of April - 9.45am to 3.30pm at Bike Glendhu!
In this 8-11yr old Co-ed session we will start to look at how best to tackle tech, rocks, roots and exposure as an Intro Gnar! Its Bike Glendhu so naturally we ride some flowy jump lines too and make the most of the skills area! Cost includes one van shuttle in the morning to get us up to Jacks Spot with plenty of energy to ride up to the crossing once or twice. Riders need to be Intermediate or Strong Intermediate+ ablitiy, experienced on grade 3 and wanting to progress on Grades 4 and 5. All participants need to have some from of WORD coaching already, recent camp or Term Programme. Not sure if this is for you, just ask Rob on 0275345727.

Cost:
$125 - If you have a Bike Glendhu season pass
$135 - If you don't have a season pass (this will cover you for the day you are with WORD at Bike Glendhu)

A typical day at WORD Camp:
9.45am - Drop off
- Meet Rob your instructor!
- Meet the rest of the group, play some games and do a safety check.
- Head on up in the van to Jacks Spot and out for a ride, learn some new skills and find some interesting features to session.
- Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea all out on the trails! (BYO lunch and snacks in small backpacks).
- Afternoon adventure ride practicing new skills!

Know Your Local - Beginner/Intermediate riders
WORD Mountain Bike Camp for 6-8 year olds!
Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th April | 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Ready for a fun-filled mountain biking adventure in Wanaka? This two-day program is designed for young riders to explore the best local trails, gain confidence, and build new skills! It's the ultimate opportunity for kids to ride the stunning Wanaka trails, learn exciting new bike techniques, and have a blast with new friends.
Day 1 - Tuesday 15th April:
Drop-off: 9.30am at Hikuwai Skills Area (73 Gunn Road)
Pick-up: 2.30pm at Same location
Day 2 - Wednesday 16th April:
Drop-off: 9.30am at Kirimoko Trails (3 Akitu Rise)
Pick-up: 2.30pm at Lismore Bike Park (Plantation Road)

Who is this for?
This program is ideal for beginner to intermediate riders aged 6-8 years. Children that can ride grade 2 trails, are able to stand up on the pedals over uneven terrain, are wanting to improve their riding and push themselves a little. We will work with them to improve there confidence on uneven terrain and on downhill trails to take their riding to the next level. Not sure? Feel free to call Rob at 0275345727 for more info.
What to Expect:
In this exciting co-ed session, we will build confidence on our bikes while exploring Wanaka's awesome grade 2 and 3 trails and some sweet hidden features.
We will introduce new skills to help us ride over small drops, wooden features, roots, rocks, and learn how to pump and jump in a fun, safe environment!

A typical day at WORD Camp:
9:30 AM: Drop off – Meet Rob, your awesome instructor!
Get to know the group with fun games and a quick safety check.
Hit the trails! Start the adventure by riding and learning new skills.
Morning Tea and Lunch out on the trails! (Don’t forget your snacks and lunch in a small backpack!) Refuel and get ready for more riding!
Afternoon Adventure Ride: Time to practice new skills on different trails and features.
2:30 PM: Pick up – A day full of excitement, new skills, and happy memories!
This camp is the perfect chance for your child to discover the thrill of mountain biking in one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. Along the way, they’ll make new friends, enjoy the rush of adrenaline, and, of course, eat plenty of snacks!

Pedal & Play: One Big Adventure
9am - 3.30pm Wednesday 23rd of April
One big day of adventures, playparks, nature and new challenges!
Riding 11km from Northlake Bike Pump Track to Wanaka Rotary Playground
In this 6-9yr old Co-ed session we will meet at Northlake Pump Track between 9 and 9.30am. With two parent helpers and Rob as the WORD Instructor we will ride in a big group of 15 kids max from Northlake Pump Track into Hikuwai and around the Beacon Point bike trail all the way to town (just under 11km).
Along the way we will have plenty of breaks to eat snacks and recharge the legs. There will be plenty of time to explore playparks, learn new skills, climb trees, skim rocks, play games and enjoy the great outdoors.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea all out on the trails! (BYO lunch and snacks in a backpack your child can ride with).
It will be a big day riding so children will need a moderate level of fitness, be confident riding off-road, on gravel and over uneven terrain, they will also need a bit of grit! (a want to challenge and push themselves).
3.30pm pick up from Wanaka Rotary Playground (Next to Watersports Centre).

What you'll need?
Mountain bike with two working brakes and knobbly tyres, plus helmet.
Backpack with water, tube that fits your bike, rain coat and warm layers, snacks and lunch.
