13-17 Year Olds
WORD Camps are the best part of school holidays! We have a variety of different camps during the holidays. Each camp we will ride, learn and giggle...heaps! Camps are open to kids of all MTB skill abilities. We split into groups, so we can ride with mates of similar radness.

Mākara’s Tour de Black
13-17 years-old coed
Strong intermediate and Advanced riders, this one is for you!
Like Know your Local, but a little spicier! If you are stoked about Grade 4 trails and wanna get more confident on Grade 5, this is for you! Given that we have the whole day, we will have plenty of time to scope out lines and session the trickier sections. And of course nothing holds us from throwing in a grade 4 if we need a chill lap!
On the menu : Live Wires Black lines, Deliverance, Vertigo, Ridgeline, Trickle Falls, K-hole.
Never ridden those tracks but always wanted to give it a go? Perfect! This is the camp for you! Or for the more confident, a great opportunity to get your practice runs in for the Makara Peak Enduro on 15 Feb!
23-24 January (8:30-3pm)
The 2 day camp includes:
– 2 Experienced and super fun WORD mountain bike instructors (1:5 ratio)
–WORD t-shirt and WORD sticker
Akatarawas Jungle Adventure - van camp
Let's head over for an adventure up the coast to the Akatarawas Jungle!
Day one, we'll hop into Vinnie the van to get up to Kapiti Coast where instructor and local guide Peg will lead us on epic trails through beautiful native bush!
Then we'll spend the night camping at Paekakariki Holiday Park really close to the beach where we can enjoy a swimm and sunset!
Day two we head back into the bush for another lap of the Akas before heading back to town at the end of the afternoon.
To really enjoy this adventure, riders will want to be stoked about a big day on the bike, happy and confident on technical rooty terrain (keep in mind walking sections is also okay!)
9-10 January (overnighter)
Day one, drop off (8am) at the coach park in front of Amora Hotel on Wakefield St.
Day two, Pick up at 4pm at same location
Cost $270 includes:
-Transport to the trails
-1 night camping
-Dinner, breakfast and lunch for day 2
-2 Awesome WORD Instructors
-WORD T-shirt and sticker
